Response to: Burning the Baking

The overwhealming response to my "burning the baking" post encouraged me to try my hand at some packaged muffins. I only had to add egg and water so I did well. I was careful to make sure they didn't burn and the family was surprised when I told them I had made them. It just really surpised me at how many people were concerned about my domestic skills.

In other news, things are great here! On May 3rd I will be heading down to Grande Prairie with 16 girls and some parents to help chaperone the Polar Cup Soccer Tournament. The girls are training hard and I know that this will be just a great opportunity to spend time with some of the girls I don't know as well! I may not know much about soccer but I do know about the truth of Jesus Christ and I am praying for the chance to share that with them that weekend!

The Best Way to Start a Birthday!

It is 1:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. Though it is my birthday today it's not the excitement of being 21 that is keeping me awake. It is because today will mark the spiritual birthday of a mom here who just gave her life to the Lord a half an hour ago!!! I strongly felt to pray and beleive for a major breakthrough in her life before I leave for home in 6 weeks. God knew today would be the day he answered her prayer to heal her in a desperate time of sickness. I knew when she told me today that she has tried everything but God that she had already opened the door of her heart to welcome Him in! This past Wednesday I planted flowers with my girls group to demonstrate how just as a plant needs water, sun and good soil to grow we too need in our realtionship with God need prayer, the Word and an open heart! When I began to re-tell this story tonight, the mother jumped up and ran to bring me her daughters plant. The seed in less than a week has sprouted, broke surface and has began to bud in beautiful rich soil!!! What an illustration! As she held the begginings of a potted plant in her hand, I pointed to the tiny sprout and told her that this plant is her life with Christ. Small to start but surely growing! God put everything together from the little plant, to prompting her to pray for healing (which she has received) even to the last detail of cancelling my plans last night so I could pray with her. Thank-You for all of your faithful prayers. God is doing a great work in Fort Resolution!

Burning the Baking.

If you know me at all you know that I am the worst baker in the world. The girls however love to just come over and bake with me. Well, until they learned of my less-than-amazing skills. Even the ladies at the store ask how I ruined the last batch of baking when I come in to buy more flour and eggs. Eventually we resorted to packaged cookies where all you have to do is put them in the oven...but I managed to ruin those as well. It's a good thing they come over to hangout not so much to learn any culinary skills. These past weeks have been all about new connections with new kids and even some new adults. God has definitly been setting up some divine appointments. It's now spring break for the kids and I have the chance to house sit for a couple who teach at the school here. It's been nice to have some alone time and yet have people over for dinner each night--don't worry I can cook, just not bake. Tomorrow morning I pick up my mom from the airport as she is coming for Easter weekend for a visit. I'm excited for her to come and meet the reasons why I love Fort Resolution. Some of the kids are even begging me to take them to meet her at the airport. It's hard to beleive my time is half-over yet I know that God still has a lot in store for the next two months. Please pray that the relationships I am building will grow tangeable fruit. That they will be more than just friendships but relationships hungering for more of God and his Word. Thank-you for all of your support for the last two months. Please continue to interceed for this Territory and for Fort Resolution!
